In this episode I share my backstory of how I became a trainer but more importantly, why I did.

Over the last 22 years I've spent as a coach, I've had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and be part of many pretty amazing transformations, both mentally and physically.

I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to coach dads full-time now and I'm seriously grateful for this each day.

In this digital age we're in right now, anyone can label themselves a fitness expert or coach and often get clients based on their bodies and/or marketing savvy.

It's one of the things I struggle with personally and hate seeing people get taken advantage of by unqualified people pretending to be fitness experts.

My goal has always been to build relationships with those in my tribe and don't ever want to hide behind a sales page or website. Coaching is a people business, not a numbers business and I'm reminded of this daily.

When it comes to coaching, I've found that many men, especially dads, are reluctant to hire a coach or even ask for help. We have egos and many of us think we can just figure it all out ourselves.

We can't.

Over the last 5 years, I've hired multiple coaches because I wanted to improve at some specific things. I have no issue asking for help and I surround myself with people far smarter than I am for a reason.

Coaching dads for years has shown me so many things and one thing that stands out is how difficult it is for them to ask for help and then pay for it. Many dads, myself included for years, feel like any money spent on themselves is selfish and should be going to pay for any number of obligations.

I get that and of course we need to pay our bills.

What many fail to remember is that we are the best investment we can make. If we're at our best physically, mentally, and emotionally, we are going to be better parents and husbands, period.

One more thing: if you could do it by yourself, you would be. There is no shame in realizing you just can't do it all.

If you need help, ask. If you think you can't make a change, ask for help. If you don't know where to begin, ask. If you want to make changes to your life and realize you can't do it alone, ask for help.
